The work is never done!

Having a house is wonderful, but isn't it so true that the work is never done! We thought restaining the deck was going to be our only project this summer...yeah right...what were we thinking? On memorial day one of the boards split on the steps, so now we need to replace it and stain it. Then we had a big storm the other night and a huge limb fell out of our tree. Steven tried to chop it up, but after getting the chainsaw stuck a few times and fearing cutting off a hand or head, we decided to call the professionals.

Brennan and his cousin Gabe went to get their pictures made on Wednesday! We got some great shots even if it was a crazy busy day! We bought the CD, so I'll have to upload the pictures to my .mac website so you can see all of them. There are too many to put on the blog.

Swimming!!!

Brennan went swimming for the first time this week! He loved it. The water was a bit chilly, but we got used to it pretty quickly. We're looking forward to many more trips to the swimming pool this summer!

Happy Memorial Day!

We enjoyed a nice Memorial day with both of our families. Steven and I hosted our first cookout since we finished restaining the deck. It was a beautiful day and Brennan loved being around all of the people who love him most!

Buddy Elijah & Cousin Gabe

We met our buddy Elijah this week at Qdoba! The boys are getting so big! Brennan loves watching other kids and trying to grab them! Brennan also had fun at lunch snuggling Miss Caroline who had just been on the never ending journey from San Francisco to Charlotte. We're glad she finally made it!


Brennan's cousin Gabe came into town last night and we went uptown to Speed Street. It is a street festival in celebration of the CocaCola 600 that is happening in Charlotte this weekend. The boys raced their strollers down the street like they were nascar drivers (their dads thought they were anyways). Gabe's stroller got a flat tire, but that was the only casualty.

Can't keep up!

It's tough to stay up to date on this blog! So much happens in a day! Brennan is on the verge of being very mobile these days. He has taken a few "crawls" (not steps). I guess it's time to start child proofing the house...ugh. This past week we visited Brennan's newest friend Conlin. Conlin goes to church with us and is a month old exactly in this picture. Brennan liked him very much. It will be fun when they can actually play together.


Brennan also started taking baths in the real tub over the past few weeks and he loves it. I just thought these pictures were cute.


Brennan's cousin Ally's birthday was on Thursday! She loves babies and is great at entertaining Brennan and Gabe. Happy Birthday Ally! This picture is from Easter because I forgot my camera when we saw Ally on Thursday. They took some with theirs and need to send them to me...hint hint! Brennan was belly laughing at his cousin Michael throwing a sock into the air. It was so cute!

The Deck is FINALLY Finished

Steven and I have been painting now for over a month (when we have time). Our back deck looked pretty weathered when we moved into our house, but after almost three years, it definitely needed a restaining. So instead of paying someone a good chunk of change, we decided to do it ourselves. We washed, powerwashed, sanded, and stained (and stained again after Home Depot mixed the wrong color and we used a whole gallon of it...ugh). It was a lot of labor!!! After 6 gallons of stain, here is the final product. The swing still needs staining...any volunteers? I don't know if I can do anymore!

First Golf Lesson

Yesterday while I was working, Steven stayed home with Brennan (since my mom is out of the country for two weeks and she usually watches him during the week...=( ). He gave him his first golf lesson. Steven has been addicted to practicing and perfecting his golf swing lately. I can't tell you how many times he's been to the driving range or hit balls in our back yard over the past few weeks. He just set up a huge net so he can hit real balls instead of those practice wiffle balls. He's also tearing up the grass in our back yard (which I'm not so thrilled about, but it's cheaper than the driving range). Anyways, Brennan liked the golf clubs. I took a video, I just don't know how to post it on here. It was cute.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers out there! Steven, Brennan and I are so blessed to have such wonderful mother's and grandmothers! Grandmom, MiMi, Nina, and Great Grandma Mary, Brennan is lucky to have you in his life! God truly has given so much to us through each one of you. It was a nice first mothers day for me as I was able to enjoy my son and husband and relax today. We also got to hang out with my sister Lara for lunch which was a treat. I hope I can be as good of a mother as my mom was to me and Steven's mom was to him!

MiMi's Birthday Celebration

MiMi celebrated her birthday in style at the Westin this past weekend. We enjoyed a yummy dinner at Mert's Heart and Soul and took some great pictures. The rest of the evening was filled with Catch Phrase and going out on the town. Steven hosted his aunts, uncle and cousins and showed them a good time. I went to pick up Brennan from his Grandmom and PopPop's house. He had lot of fun hanging out with them while we were celebrating.







In the morning, Brennan got to go visit everyone at the hotel. He enjoyed listening to his Great Aunt Cooky make lots of fun sounds and voices.

After a fun morning playing with Elijah, Brennan got to spend the afternoon and evening with his MiMi, Big Daddy, and Aunt Lindsey! I sent the camera along and here is what we got back! It looks like Brennan had fun eating his yummy dinner and playing with all of his cool toys! I'm sure he did lots more, but you know the saying, "What happens at MiMi's stays at MiMi's!"

Best Buds

Brennan and Elijah are only 4 weeks apart in age. They had fun playing together and trying out each others toys on Friday. It's funny how early kids learn they want what someone else has!

Sitting Up

Hello All! Brennan was able to sit himself up last night! He has been sitting well for a few weeks, but he went from his tummy to his bottom all by himself for the first time. I can't find my camera, that's why I haven't posted in a few days. If I could figure out how to work this video camera, I would try to put it on here. It might take me all day to figure it out, so I'm not sure if that's going to happen. Just wanted you to know!
